Master of Science in Mathematics - Specialization in *Pure Mathematics *Data Science

Intake: 50

  • Programme CodeMSC-001
  • Duration 2 Years
  • Programme Post Graduate Programme
  • Department Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Mathematics is the science of number, quality and space, either as abstract concepts (pure mathematics) or as applied to other disciplines such as physics or engineering (applied math). It is a science of structure, order and relation that has evolved from the elemental practices of counting, measuring and describing the shapes of things.

In today’s parlance mathematical application has emerged as a new and popular data science too. There is no domain of academic or professional inquiry where mathematics does not apply. Mathematics has applications in engineering medicine, other sciences, social sciences, culinary sciences, humanities and even in languages and art forms. Its study and practice support every possible function of life imaginable. Invertis University is a reliable name for students who need the top M Sc Maths Colleges to prepare them for the leading career opportunities in the domain.

The two-year master’s degree in Mathematics is based on the first year of general study and the second year of specialization in either pure math or data science based on the student’s interests and future career plans. The subjects covered in this degree are Algebra, Analysis, Numerical Methods, Fundamentals of Computer and C Programming, Linear Algebra, Topology, Optimization Techniques, Discrete Mathematics, Finite Element Method, Multivariable Calculus, Algebraic Geometry, Network Models, Fluid Mechanics, Number Theory and Cryptography. The students proceeding to a pure mathematics specialisation in year two also study functional analysis, MATLAB, and mathematical methods; while those proceeding to data science specialization study database management systems, data warehousing and data mining.

The lab work includes statistical analysis and C programming. Fieldwork and internships are an integral part of the degree and group presentations, projects, dissertations, research and applicable innovations are encouraged and rewarded. The students also meet with industry experts, and visit mathematical-based organizations such as DRDO, TIFR Mumbai, IMSc Chennai etc. The Invertis University, with its extensive curriculum and meticulous pedagogic structure, has become a name of cardinal importance among the top M Sc Maths Colleges.
