Guest Lecture in Chemistry

Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities organised an online Guest Lecture in Chemistry on topic Sustainable Techniques for Water Treatment: Past, Present & Future in Seminar Hall-2 of the university from 2:00 to 3:00 pm on 4th March 2024. The Guest Lecture was attended by Masters students of Chemistry, Bachelor students of B.Sc. (Hons.), B.Sc.(PCM) and B.Sc.(ZBC), all faculty members and Head Dr S K Jain. The speaker was Dr CHRISTINE JEYASEELAN, Professor and Head, Department of chemistry, Amity Institute of Applied Sciences, Amity University.

The speaker explained global water distribution in the world, types of wastewater domestic and industrial, types of pollutants in water, major contributors of water pollution in India, effect of water pollution, treatment methods past, present and future, primary and secondary sewage treatment with mechanism, precipitation, chemical coagulation, exchange, filtrations and so on. After the lecture the speaker had a nice informative discussion with students on their queries.

The Lecture was well appreciated by all the students and faculty members of Applied Sciences and Humanities Department. The convener for the event was Dr D Arumugam.
